Glass
Painting and firing
| The
Service:

|
We paint
designs, names, whatever on glass with genuine "glass stainer's"
enamels (powdered colored glass) and then fire the glass in a kiln to
fuse the enamel into the base glass. We use this technique to add
extra detail to a leaded glass panel, like a commemorative name or
date. The maximum size for a single piece of painted glass is
12" x 12", the size of our kiln shelf. Larger passages
of painted glass will be composed of multiple pieces of glass. |
| The
Benefits: |
Painting
permits the execution of detail that is too small or impractical to
execute as separate pieces of glass. There is a long tradition of
painting stained glass to to achieve detail in figures in Church
windows. The same techniques can be used to add details to a
residential design. |
| Cost: |
Varies
according to the amount of detail to be painted. At least an
additional $50
per square foot of painted glass area. |
